From the outset, every detail was carefully considered. The new doors needed to maintain the building’s historical integrity while introducing contemporary fire safety measures. With a meticulous eye for craftsmanship, Denleigh embarked on a journey to create door sets that would not only complement the refined interiors but also meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Craftsmanship Meets Tradition
One of the standout features of this project was the impressive door height—reaching a grand 2.9 meters. These towering doorways exuded an air of elegance, perfectly suited to the grandeur of the listed property. Initially, the client envisioned a sleek black RAL sheen finish; however, as the project progressed, they opted for a hand-painted finish, a decision that added an extra layer of refinement and character to the space.
Each door was crafted from tulipwood, carefully primed in white to provide a flawless foundation. The panel style featured raised and fielded detailing with recessed regular beading, a classic design choice that echoed the property’s rich architectural heritage. Every door was meticulously designed to ensure that it seamlessly integrated with the existing interiors, reinforcing the traditional aesthetic while introducing a new level of sophistication.
Bringing Vision to Life
Under the expert guidance of designer Dan Curtis from ROKE, the project unfolded with precision and passion. The process began with multiple product samples and design meetings, ensuring that every element aligned with the client’s vision. The bespoke nature of the project required a keen eye for detail, from the selection of ironmongery to the final finishes applied on-site. Every door—whether leading to the drawing room, library, guest WC, guest bedroom, or master bedroom—was designed with purpose, offering both beauty and functionality.
Fire safety was also a crucial consideration. All major doors, including those for the drawing room, library, and bedrooms, were designed to meet FD30 fire rating standards. This balance between aesthetic elegance and regulatory compliance underscored Denleigh’s expertise in delivering solutions that are as practical as they are visually stunning.
Expert Guidance from Cullen Wylie
A pivotal figure in ensuring the project's success was Cullen Wylie, Denleigh’s lead design consultant. With extensive experience in bespoke door solutions, Cullen played a crucial role in translating the client’s vision into a tangible, beautifully executed design. His expertise in materials, finishes, and fire-rated specifications ensured that every aspect of the doors met the highest standards of craftsmanship and functionality. Cullen’s ability to blend technical knowledge with an intuitive understanding of aesthetic harmony helped drive the project forward, ensuring that each door set seamlessly integrated with the home’s distinguished character.
Precision and Efficiency
Time was of the essence. From the initial enquiry to placing the order, the process took approximately one month, followed by a well-coordinated 12-14 week production schedule. The efficiency of execution ensured that the project remained on track, without compromising on quality or attention to detail.
As the doors were carefully installed, they became more than just functional elements of the refurbishment—they became a defining feature of the space, enhancing its character and luxury. The transformation was remarkable, demonstrating how thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship can breathe new life into a historical property.
A Testament to Excellence
Denleigh’s work at Warwick Square stands as a testament to their dedication to quality, design, and client satisfaction. The project beautifully married tradition with modern-day requirements, showcasing how bespoke interior doors can be both a statement of style and a standard of safety. In the heart of London, behind those exquisitely crafted doors, a perfect harmony of past and present was achieved.
